He began his career at Goldman Sachs and spent nearly 25 years at Jefferies, where he became Managing Director and Co-Head of Digital Media and Internet Investment Banking, retiring as one of the firm’s longest-tenured employees.

Dave has advised companies including Microsoft, Google, Yahoo!, Yelp, IBM, and Sony on more than 100 transactions totaling over $15 billion. He has founded four companies, including one that reached approximately 1,000 employees and hundreds of millions in revenue; launched multiple top-ranked apps; and worked on Oscar-qualified and Sundance-winning films including Dìdi (弟弟) and Every Day After. Through his family foundation, he supports AAPI students, storytellers, entrepreneurs, and cleft-affected people.

Dave A. Liu is an advisor, investor, entrepreneur, author, filmmaker, and philanthropist whose career connects four powerful worlds: Wall Street, Silicon Valley, Hollywood, and social impact. A former Goldman Sachs banker and Jefferies Managing Director, Dave has spent nearly three decades helping founders, CEOs, investors, creators, and mission-driven leaders understand how capital, strategy, storytelling, access, and power actually work.

Dave began his career at Goldman Sachs before joining Jefferies, where he rose from analyst to Managing Director and Co-Head of Digital Media and Internet Investment Banking. When he retired from Jefferies, he was one of the longest-tenured employees in the firm’s history. Over his nearly 25-year investment banking career, he advised companies including Microsoft, Google, Yahoo!, Yelp, IBM, and Sony on more than 100 transactions totaling over $15 billion, including IPOs, financings, M&A, and strategic transactions.

After Wall Street, Dave expanded into entrepreneurship, investing, advising, media, and philanthropy. He has founded four companies, including one that reached approximately 1,000 employees and hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue, and has launched multiple top-ranked apps. Through Liucrative Endeavors, Liucrative Media, and related ventures, he has worked with or invested in companies and brands including Internet Brands/WebMD, MobilityWare, FIGS, Vobile, and ProSiebenSat.1 Media.

Dave is the author of The Way of the Wall Street Warrior, a bestselling career guide that uses humor, candor, and hard-won Wall Street lessons to help ambitious professionals navigate the unwritten rules of work, power, politics, compensation, promotion, and success. He donates 100% of his net proceeds from the book to charity.

Through Liucrative Media, Dave works at the intersection of storytelling, representation, and cultural impact. His film-related work includes Oscar-qualified and Sundance-winning projects such as Dìdi (弟弟), Sean Wang’s acclaimed Focus Features coming-of-age film, and Every Day After, an Oscar-qualified documentary short focused on cleft-affected children and families.

Dave earned degrees from the University of Pennsylvania’s Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology, studying at both Wharton and Penn Engineering, and received his MBA from Harvard Business School. He serves on boards and advisory boards for the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Arts & Sciences and the Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology.
